Bike Ride in SE London 25 or 26 July

j27rtj27rt Posts: 102
Hello,

Would anyone be interested in a group training ride heading out of SE London on either 25 or 26 July? I appreciate this is the week before the London tri so it won't be a hard ride, I just thought it would be nice to meet up with like minded people in a non race situation.

In terms of route, I feel this would be best left to general consensus from those interested and everyone is welcome albeit on a Brompton or some piece of carbon porn.

James

I'd be up for that, although if we could aviod climbing shooters hill that would be great as i don't want to get too bright red faced and sweaty

If we get a few people interested, then we could just see what everybody has in mind and go from there. Some people (self included) have London the following week so not sure if I'd be keen to go mad. Any good routes in mind anyone? (flat-ish...))

Certainly up for it, have a mate who will be too, although he's doing IMUK the following weekend so he'll not be wanting anything too harsh

Would be up for this but got Rookie Day 2 on the 25th... If its the 26th then its a goer.

Lets make it the 26th then if there are no objections? And it sounds like we are agreed that it will be a flatish comfortable ride. I guess the next thing is to come up with a route which will then dictate a meeting point. So does anyone have any suggestions...?

I was thinking west - i.e Windsor direction. Fits the bill. I seen a route posted on BikeHike that looked ok - about 32 miles each way. Could meet somewhere like Richmond park or Clapham.

    ??

Thought the thread idea was South East London?

i can't make that weekend but would be up for future outings. if anyone knows of any good routes in SE London I'd love to hear them (I live in Lewisham) cos it mostly seems to be sh&t roads and lots of traffic.

yeah SE London is all sh&t road s and traffic (i'm in Greenwich) but i think there may be some routes out but that would involve Shooters hill, i will have a look on map my ride and see if there is anything reasonably nice in teh area - there is the 'SE London Green chain' which i've seen mentioned on the train may also look into that.

What kind of distances are people thinking?

shooters hill is good training - as is the road up the hill in Greenwich Park - try doing it 5x in a row

I do the greenwich park hill for my hill training twice a month (if not 3 times) - i do between 8 and 10 reps then run down onto woolwich road and head (for some reason) into London round the Rotherhithe roundabout and back to the flyover by the blackwall tunnel approach then home again. takes an hour or so depending on the traffic in the area.

I've had a look on map my ride by am struggling to find anything decent - there was this http://www.mapmyride.com/ride/united-ki ... /541987637
I thought just follow it out to dartford or something and back?

will post this on bcttt too

md - that looks a pretty good route.

Just to save any confusion Ron's ride which is posted on the BCTTT forum and my post are the same ride, I didn't have a BCTTT logon and Ron posted it for me!

Would it be fair to say the majority of interested riders are based in the Greenwich/Woolwich/Eltham area? I am based in Woolwich and I know Ron is Clapham way but I am sure we can bully him to come our way!
