It’s all over!!! I can do no more….

It’s all over!!! I can do no more….

Today was my last bit of training before my A race and the whole reason why I have trained for the last 6 months.

Some thoughts about my journey so far:-

• I have parted with money on a Triathlon Coach to tell me to do stupid things like 3000m pool sessions.. cycle for 4hours than go for an hours run… just in the name of training!!
• I’ve seen more sun and been burn more times over this summer than since I was a kid… hence the very weird tan lines!!
• I have a bike that costs more than my car.. and I use it more!!!!
• I’ve seen more 5ams on Saturday mornings, but not because I’m up from the night before!!
• Running to work (10miles) is often just the first training session of the day
• I wear tights (compression styleee!!)
• I’ve spent hours at a time on the interweb and not seen porn for ages!
• When I check out females their “form” is their either their running or cycling technique

Sunday is the day we see if it’s time well spent or if I go back binge drinking my way through my 30’s!!

The 13th of Sept was exactly 1 year since I first posted on 220 and my "addiction to Tri started!" the 20th will be exactly 1 year to the day since I first completed in a Triathlon, 12 months ago I finished a 400m pool sprint, this weekend I’m hoping to compete at the same averages speeds over a half ironman distance… this time next year an ironman distance race??

All that’s left now is for me hydrate and carb load….

Wish me luck.

Scotty

BTW an even more impressive than me training to do this event for 6 months is our very own Jellybaby (James) who is competing without anywhere near the hours and distance I’ve put in, in fact he only decided to do 2 weeks ago!! For that JB I salute you!!! You have more guts than me…..

It was 1 year since we became mesmerised with you brilliance Scotty. Good Luck and keep us posted.

Keep it real and remeber to shout Viva Revolution when you cross the line!
  • Well good luck and I'm sure all the training will pay off for you.
  • I remember first signing in on this forum and reading lots of posts from this funny fella with pink hair and glasses, looking fairly well dressed with a glass of something sparkling in his hand. Turns out to be one of the guys i look up too most when it comes to pushing himself harder for longer. That's you. Scotty.

You, and those like you, are the reason i'm still hooked on this crazy sport.

Good luck matey. Imagine us all on your shoulder when your out there - supporting you and egging you on.

    All the best.
  • best of luck scott always good reading about someone aiming and hitting goals,

now what must I start thinking about for next year ?
  • Scott, I would want to wish you best of luck, but in your case that is no use ... nothing to do with luck anymore (unless related to punctures), as you have put the work and sweat into the training. You are a winner already, the outcome of the race is a formality.

    Enjoy your moment(s)!

Go for it Scott! It aint luck you need. you have done the training and sounds like you are prepared so you just need the HIM gods on your side! A small offering of porridge first thin in the morning of race day and your sorted.

Go give those HIM a run for their money and I look foward to the match report.

Keep mentally strong dude and yopur legs will do the rest!

  • All the best, mate. You're an inspiration. Looking forward to reading the report.

  • Tear it up Scott, There is no doubt in my mind that you are prepared and ready to do the best you can.

All the hours of swimming, the hours on the bike and the miles of running WILL stand you in good stead.

You my man are an inspiration for us normal folk to train, compete and do well.

    Best of luck mate.
  • Best of luck Scott. I've really enjoyed reading your posts on the build up to this and I'm sure I'll enjoy next years journey towards IM, once you've gone out and smashed the HM
