  • I'm not even going to go there! I feel that I've single handedly ot this country out of recession since taking up Tri. Never mind, I've lost 12,500 grammes in weight, so as long as it's cost me less than £/g then I'm happy.

best guesses for some of these:

    tri bars - 25
    entry fees (5 races) - 146
tri club memberships - 45 (to date)
    hrm - 85
    tri shorts - 30
    tri top - 10
    saddle bag - 12
    glasses - 10
    2 chains and breaker - 10
    tri-bar drinking system - 1
    new wheels - 50

bit under 450quid for the season.
in the close season i want to sort out a wetsuit, probably some new running shoes and maybe a tri-suit.

Swimming a thousand miles a week or whatever Hussler does is going to wear out your Speedos at quite a rate

Personally, compared to last year, I reckon this year's been cheap. £500 maybe, mostly on entry fees, trainers and bike shoes.

too bleedin much ... but not as much as next year will
  • I swim around 10-15km a week so all that chlorine rots my speedos faster than anything you can imagine.... and as I have now found somewhere that sells speedos for £2 each my expenses will drop a little and they suddenly become items that are disposable:)
  • No idea how much I've spent but I'm sure I could buy a small car with it.

Next year I'm going for a family saloon
  • The bike I'm about to buy costs more than I spent on the family car.

    Sod all:

Entries fees and a race belt for the one time i forgot to take it the event and it was non-wetsuit swim and so it was the only event where i have actually needed it.

Probably about £300 in all. I'm still on the same crappy kit I started on. Hey ho, at least i know that all my improvements are down to me!
  • Somewhere over £5K...I think

Not an exhaustive list but a few key items
    Entry fees £750 (without travel/accom/etc)
Isaac Sonic frame £450 (bargin )
Isaac Jouls Aerotic fram £650 (also a bargin)
    SRAM Force 2010 set £350
    Build for bikes £100
    SRAM wheels £800
    Trisuits/choes/other clothing £300
    Wetsuit £350

    Plus sundries.......

Who said it was cheap to get fit....

    I.
  • I hate to think

but the new bike alone was more than 5 times the cost of the car...... (it's a very, very cheap car )

and then there was the tri suit and the trainers and the entry fees and the race belt and the swim suit and the googles and the wetsuit and the............. hope the HAT officer's not watching
  • I dare not think as I have been a training camp aboard bought a new tt bike and enterd about a half dozen races and that in my first full season as well as buying loads of kit . If I had to put a figure on it I would say about £5 k not as much as some but more than others .

Got to admit £10k is a lot of money for anybody without sponsorship or a few million in the bank or is pro , but can't think of a better way of spending money and by god you can spend on on tri kit if you want to .

Next season investment will be a new set of wheels for my tt bike and a ne wetsuit due to now being a keen lean fighting machine rather than just mr normal , lost over 2 stone during the year and seeing the benefits

    Healthy investment/unhealthy obsession.

I think that considering I seem to spend most of my time on the net drooling over bike porn I clearly haven't spent enough!
