marathon and tri training

hi guys n gals, i'm gonna do the baracalona marathon next march and am following a training programme for this at the moment the programme gives me two rest days and i'm just wondering should i leave them as complete rest days or should i go for a cycle/swim on those days -not sure how to fit the tri training around the running any advice greatly appreciated

    a long bike ride is great to improve aerobic endurance while letting the legs (mostly) rest.

    I found that with a few 4hr bike rides I was a LOt fitter and that when doing my 30km runs for the Berlin marathon, I coud keep my pulse lower for longer.
    Maybe do a bike ride every second week, and a short swim each week - just to keep the arms from turning to jelly!
