New for this year and look pretty tasty.

Or the old ones for a little cheaper

Good decent solid wheels at a bargain price I would say

anyone here got a pair of Planet X aero wheels?

are they also good if you're 90kg?

I wouldnt advise using the PX wheels if your 90kg. I had some 3 years ago and at that point I weighed 75KG and all they did was flex whenever power was put down and made the ride rather disappointing, so I sold them and got some decent wheels.

I know where you can get some very good wheels for just about £580 full carbon, either Tubs or clinchers, shimano or campag.

Check this guy out, he is called Stephen and his kit is awesome.....if you contact him and mention that I sent you.....Jase Walkley

Depends what sort of wheels you want/the type of rides you do/how heavy you are, etc.

For £500 you're probably better off getting a really good set of "normal" road wheels rather than cheap carbon ones. If you spend most of your time sitting up rather than on tri bars or in the drops then aero wheels are fairly pointless as you are causing a lot more drag than they'll be saving. If all your rides/races are hilly and you're a heavy person then get a nice set of climbing wheels - reduces rotational weight and you'll go uphill slightly quicker.

    Sensible head off

get deep rim wheels and just do lots of flat races, they look sweet

Luckily i live in the fens which is flat everywhere, only about 70KG and aslo on the aero bars as often as poss. Any recommendations ?

Steve at the wheelroom I can highly recommend.
He sold me some Cadence aero rims with royce hubs and I have never looked back. Maybe something for you to consider.
His website shows wheels he can build, will build to your weight.

You can pick up Mavic Cosmic Carbone's on eBay for £500. Mmmmmm.....
  • i've got a set of the older planet x carbon wheels, no problem with flexing at all. i rode the cowman (halfironman) and a load of olympic and sprint races on them last year. theyre the 82 101 set, and i weigh 85kg's. maybe i dont put out enough power to make them flex!

I have these, got them a year ago including quality tubs glued on etc for around £550. They're dearer now with exchange rates etc but from memory the shop were willing to haggle reductions on the telephone and post out. I'm very happy with them. Only used them in 4-5 races and training sessions but so far fast, light, and true on bumpy Yorkshire roads.

I am in a similar dilema.

Current wheels are Easton EA70s, very happy with them but being egged on to upgrade.

    Considering:
    PX 50s for £550
    Easton EA90 TTs £495
American Classic 420 Aero (not the Aero 3) for £350 - tempted
Spinergy Stealth - seem to have decent reviews but 1740 grammes - anyone ahve an opinion on these? Can snatch a used set quite cheaply but unsure about buying used.
and finally courtesy of Spin getting a set built using IRD Cadence Aero rims, Royce Titanium hubs and Sapim CX-Ray aero spokes £350 - £571 depending on spec

    Help!

For racing only with P2C frame, all distances from Sprint to Iron - brain hurts
