why don't the tour boys wear areo helmets??

don't know if this is a silly question or not?

I'm thinking of purchasing an areo helmet and noticed none of the boys on the tour wear them.

why not??

cheers

The pointy hats are predominantly for TT's and Tri's only and you wouldn't get the benefit so much in a group race or a draft legal race and a normal helmet would suffice.
  • as above + your head can boil like an egg

Thought they weren't allowed in pack racing?

This is an interesting question which i would answer as above - but - go back a couple of years and i'm sure that using 50mm carbon wheels would have probably got the same answer?

Now look at pack racing tri and TdF etc. and you'll see lot's about. Also garmin wore TT skinsuits for the final stage of lst TdF hoping to gain and advantage.

    Never say never?

Got the PB by 6 seconds tonight (TT10 = 25.55)

    helmet £130

    time saved 6 seconds

= roughly £21 per second!! bargan!
