Ah I have one of these - got it for my birthday. (bless my wife!)
The battery lasts for ages.....
You have to get the right size ear plugs - it comes with 3 different types, but once you have a good fit it is awesome swimming along to music. i hadn't swam in ages a while ago - I forced myself back in the pool and turned it on - managed 3k straight off, thanks to the music, otherwise i would have really bored!
The problems I've had is when in the pool and you push off from a turn the force can push the earphones out or lose. I pull my swim cap over them for secure fitting! so i prefer them open water.
The only other thing is that i find it harder to swim wothout it now! and you can't wear one for competitions. But I suppose it's very much the same if you wear one running.....

I find it hard enough to count lengths in the quiet...........never mind with music
