Have you always been 9 speed?
Some 8 speed chains are too thick (and even some 9 speeds) and can catch slightly.
Have you changed anything else other than the shifters and was it all working before?
Pat...
i changed the following.
front chain set
chain
rear Mech
and mine kept jumping off the bottom rear ring...
after talking to a few people they have said to change the rear cassette as I had changed everything else....
this may help?
new cables used dura ace ones
its not jumping cos of the cassette etc its definitely the shifters as they work fine in friction mode its just sis mode that wont work
AFAIK the Shimano 105, Ultegra and Dura-Ace kit has a certain chain & sprocket width which is narrower than Sora or Tiagra. If you're trying to mate a Dura-Ace shifter with a 9-speed Sora or Tiagra rear then it won't shift properly. It will be trying to shift by a smaller amount than you need and it will slip.
If it works in friction mode but not SIS then this suggests that this is the problem.
Or, as CH suggests... go and ask a professional!
it clicks and shifts into place on the top and bottom gears but doesnt click or stay in the middle three
maybe it is just that i need a new cassette then to match it up.
friction mode will have to do for now!!!
cheers for all advice tho
i had
Dura ace bar end shifters
campag fron chainset
campag rear mech
campag rear mech
ambrisio chain
changing the rear mech to shimano 105 and it was cured, apparently its something to do with the aount of cable the shifters pull through, its like .5mm where as campag needs a different amount.
as i said once I changed the rear mech to shimano aswell it was fine
