Bike storage

I have a Cervelo which i love dearly, but is becoming an obstacle in our house. I have a second baby underway and i need to find a way of storing the bike outside. I live in central London and garages are therefore hard to find and/or expensive. I have space on a balcony, but i am looking for a solution which is better than just a plastic cover as i do wat to protect my bike against the elements. Does anyone have any ideas?

You can get bikesheds, or metal lockable bike sheds, but not sure how that would fit on a balcony.
  • Thanks, yes i had seen those but had hoped to find something smaller to place on the balcony

Depending on how frequently you need access to it have you thought about a bike box?

Compact, not mega weather resistant I would have thought but a poly sheet over it would be better than poly sheet over bike. If you are using it constantly though would not be practical, just a thought.

Depending on how big the balcony is

Pretty wild, could live in that actually.

Other than that and depending if you balcony is solid or rail you could build your own mini bike shed; marine ply faced with roofing felt, nothing huge or fancy just big enough to squeeze the bike in.

    Hi,

Can you not hang it from the roof of your hall or something if your ceiling are high enough?

Or some nice parents with a big garage?

    Pat...
  • either wheel can take it

if you are hanging more than one bike you may want to alternate front and rear for adjacent bikes.

    .

Would it not be safer to put the baby's cot out on the balcony therefore leaving room in the house for your bike where it is nice and warm.
  • It doesn't matter. I hang all my bikes by the rear wheel because that's the easiest way to put it on the hook. Use the vinyl coated hooks so you don't scrape up the wheels.
