Middle Distance races - Aug onwards

Hey all,
Before I get to my request, i would like to start with a small rant if I may. I'm all for our great sport getting more popular, but it is getting bloody hard to enter the big races now... I just tried to enter Vitruvian in September and found that it was bloody full. Typical. If i see the number of DNFs i saw at Wimbleball last year i will be bloody furious.
Anyhoot, does anyone have a nice suggestion for a middle distance/1/2 ironman race? It needs to be in August or Septemeber really as I have commitments at the end of June that will prevent any racing until then. Before June is a possibility, but I want to do a good time, so need as much time as I can to get the bike miles in.
