Intersection Syndrome

Anyone of your triathlete ever suffered from this arm wrist injury. It is pretty painful and can only think it is related to the long bike I did last week followed by the gardening!!!

Seriously though, is this a common theme for triathletes. I have upped my training for Ironman this year and put it down to teh time spent on the bike

this seems quite an interesting read for the ladies and some interesting points on fit and cadence.

I suffer from something called handle bar paulsy (or at least that's the street name for it)
It was caused by battering my wrists on a mountain bike. Hurts like hell when it flares up.

It doesn't give me as much grief now as I am doing less mountain biking and more on the tri bike, so the handlebar is different.

But the bottom line is that if you ride bikes over long distances then you are at risk of wrist problems.

My advice is based on hind sight. If you get any numbness, pins and needles or things like that when riding, you need to address it before it becomes serious.
I was getting numb fingers, but it was heading into winter so I put it down to the cold. A few months of ignoring it and I found driving my car painful and picking my tools up was a problem due to lack of grip in my middle, ring, and little fingers.
If I had realised it was more than just the cold weather causing it then I might have been able to avoid it by simply adjusting my handle bar.
