Curious questions

I'm doing the Blenheim tri in a few weeks & have just been flicking through the website.
The elites get a free entry, whereas I had to pay £75. The junior elites have to pay an entry fee. Is this the same for all events? Are the events aiming to get more publicity by attracting more elites? Surely most elites would have a sponsor who pays entry fees?
Not that important I know, I'm just curious!

I Have a friend who races at elite level

Her "sponsors " do nit pay her entry fees. She gets them FOC as she is an elite, registered as such and adheres to the BTF rules etc

    I don't understand it tbh

Have a look at the online requirements and I'm sure it'll explain why
  • However good the elites are and however impressive, it is the rest of us that make the sport great and race organisers and especially the BTF would do well to remember this.

I'd rather watch Vanessa Raw at a race than you

    No offence intended of course

Good point really, given that it's Age Groupers that actually oil the machine.........

    No she wasn't

She got selected whilst at Loughborough and raced elite straight away then raced for GB afterwards

I do however stand to be corrected but I think that's right
  • Who is Vanessa Raw????

Ah well, I guess I was wrong.
But there are still a lot of fit women in the AGer races........
And I'm sure there must be some of the elites that came from being AGers.

Anyone can race as an elite providing you make the cut off requirements

My mate had to prove she could swim sub 21 mins for 1500m I think.

Crazy Speed - it's the running that frightens me - the elite men are running 4:30mins per km !!!!
