Clip on tri bars

Dear all,

I am looking at buying some clip on tri bars for my bike.  What would people recommend please?

My budget is £50-£100 [I'll probably have to check with the Mrs though!].

All thoughts & ideas welcome.

Many thanks,

John

I bought a pair of these. http://www.wiggle.co.uk/deda-parabolica-alloy-clip-on-aerobars/ I have the upwards bend ones, as they are generally considered the least aggressive, with the straight bars being the most aggressive. I agree with some reviews that the pads aren’t that comfortable on longer stints. I can only recommend these as they are the only ones i have used. However, I’ve found them good for the price.

If the Mrs says not too your budget, i would suggest looking at these http://www.wiggle.co.uk/token-tk9741-2-aero-clip-on-bars-and-pads/ bit cheaper but a people pleaser!

I think 220 did a clip on/aero bars review a few issues ago.

Indeed we did DDTTRI, our aerobars grouptest was in issue 297, we rounded up the five best ones in the following article:

I also have the deda's duo, cost £50 and have been fine for the price. I've raced with them for a couple of years (mainly Olympic distance) and they have done the job okay. They are relatively easy to put on/off and aren't that heavy. There's also enough play so you can get them into a comfortable position.  One point of note, make sure you order some end plugs (4), as they aren't included and you can't race without them filled in. They only cost a few quid so not a big deal.

I second the Deda parabolica, Though I use the UNO. Bars are a personal thing, the Uno seem to be more comfortable according to blogs and me. But no doubt others will disagree.

Though I use wiggle alot You can find them sub £50 elsewhere bike tart, ribble etc.

You will need some Plugs either wrap some electrical tape around them and push them in, and/or get some bar tape.

Downside is no instructions so think before you make the final fittings

  • whatever you do, definitely buy it on wiggle...not sure any other shops exist any more?...
