Race late entry

I've never done a Triathlon before but have been in training since last November and I'm hoping to do a sprint distance early this year. Unfortunately due to work and family commitments I'm not going to know my available dates until early/mid March. What are the chances of getting a late entry into a race and if a race is full can you go on a waiting list for cancellations?

    depends on the race - the bigger ones are likely to fill up pretty close to the date. i don't know about picking up cancellation spots, i guess different organisers will have different policies.

    smaller races (locally organised pool sprints, for example) may well have spaces closer to the day or being more accommodating.
