doing my first overseas triathlon in October this year,the swim is non wetsuit ,what is best to wear,any advice?if only ever swam open water in wetsuit so do I just wear my trisuit ?any other race advice would be appreciated.

You could just wear your tri suit like most people likely will,
For Ironman non wetsuit swims you are allowed to wear a swimskin /speedsuit over your trisuit then remove in T1, they can be exepensive and offer no buoyancy just help you glide through the water faster.

Hi. Not much more to add to what bathtub wrote.
I did Miami 70.3 in 2015 and I just wore my trisuit, which was totally fine. Quite a few people were wearing swim skins but it's quite a big investment for a one-off event.
