Talkback: How to race your first Ironman

Or, alternatively, triathlete A may, like me, have a knackered knee. Knowing he'd lose buckets on the "walk/jog/run", went for gaining what he could on the other 2 legs. Meanwhile, B assumed his usually lesser bike leg could be made up on his much better run. Both valid yet differing strategies that played to the athletes strengths / weaknesses. Not every athlete is going to be an excellent swimmer, cyclist and runner, and you need to plan for the race that suits your abilities. The comparison is simplistic and assumes both athletes had equal ability in all 3 legs...
