Puncture repair kit?

Apologies a daft question. Would you carry a puncture repair kit and bike tool while cycling the 56 miles for the UK half ironman at Wimbleball.... I was thinking yes, but thought I would check what other folks would do?

There are already a couple of posts regarding Wimbleball cycle route

Rollo - For any race you need to be able to complete the course, for a short event perhaps 1 tube for quick changes as its faster than mending the puncture. For the longer races i would think about two tubes, not the repair kit. if you're serious invest in the compressed air capsules.

definately unless you have a "special" arrangement with the RAC. You wont need much a hand pump, 2 tyre levers, & either a spare tube or two or a repair kit ( glue & patches). some carry small Co2 cannisters but they can be a shade costly. mosat races will insit on the above

other wise 56 miles is bloody long run with a bike on ya back

    YES YES YES

it's a must, get one of the little bag things that go under your saddle

and, practice changing the tyre before the day too just in case.

    good luck

  • Can anyone recommend which CO2 canister or system to carry, whats good/easy to use and not too expensve?

Rollo, absolutely yes. It's a long time to train for, you don't want it to be all over after 5 miles. I went out for a short ride on Saturday without a tube ('cause I've never had a puncture - up until Saturday!) Had to call the RAC out (the wife) to come & pick me up. Walking/running in cleats is no fun.
