Why 220

I have been receiving the magazine for quite a while now and it is really helpful and interesting - but why is it called 220 triathlon, am I missing something??

  • a rule of thumb for your max heart rate is 220 minus your age, although its not a precise measurement. Hope this helps.

    I thought it was something to do with times for standard distance but was told it was your maximum heart rate.

  • It is to do with the old method of working out your maximum heart rate. Look on the inside front cover or first page of any Tri 220 mag.
