Nutrition / Weight Loss

Hi

I did first triathlon in 2013 (London Olympic in 2:33), then had back trouble resulting in surgery.  Now getting active again and want to compete again and I'd love to do a half IM next year (if i can muster up courage to enter one....).  I am 15.5st and need to drop some weight but really struggle to lose weight and keep it off and also understand what actually my body needs rather than what I want to eat!!!... I am 6ft 1 and 35 yrs old and love to get down to 13.5-14st and think this would really benefit my training / races.  Any good nutritional advice or recommended reading.....

Thanks

Mark

The Complete Guide to Sports Nutrition by Anita Bean would be a good place to start

Arnie, the other suggestion I would have is "Racing Weight" by Matt Fitzgerald. Instead of making you think how much you're eating it makes you focus on the quality of what you're eating. If you can focus on the quality of the fuel you are putting in it will almost certainly help you avoid being starving.

Thank you both - that's great. I really appreciate your replies. I'll definitely look them both up and look forward to more races hopefully a leaner, fitter person!!!
