Duathlon Olympic Event

I’m slightly confused as to why Duathlon isn’t recognised as an Olympic event? There are vast arrays of top international athletes that compete in the sport, of which were recently on top form at the ‘Long Distance World Duathlon Championships’ in Belgium. Whilst not taking anything away from some of the ‘so called sports’ the compete at the Olympics, as I’m sure they have a certain element of skill required, but ‘shooting’ and ‘archery’ don’t really demand that much apart from skill, do they? So why isn’t Duathlon in there? Triathlon has been more than successfully received by the Olympic world, so why can’t Duathlon?
