the giant got good reviews, i wanted one at the time but couldnt get the money together,
Have bought the PX but as frame only and built it up myself, loks good and feels fast, my tt times have been faling on it, even in the weatherc conditions we've been having here lately

Personally I buy all things new except for bikes. If you look at second hand bikes. I mean the 1000+ ones then you will see all competitive cyclists keep them in mint condition. So me personally I would get a 2k + bike for under a grand second hand. That way your not loosing alot on it when you sell it and you get more for your money. I got a road bike second hand the other day. Ridley Democlies and its meant to be 4k and came to 2k with full dure ace 10 etc. absolutely amazing condition. Hope thats helped a bit. Let me know what you decide.
