How much training

Hi,

I am new to triathlon and am wondering how many days a week I should be training. In other training I have done in the past (for other sports) it has been 1 day on and 1 day off. Does the same apply to triathlon training? Or can I train 6 or even 7 days a week ?

Any advice would be great,

Thanks

Si

Most of us on here try (it doesn't always happen) to train 6 days a week. Because tri has three disciplines your body can cope with this amount of training better than if you were running 6 days a week. (I have done this and it nearly killed my knees) -

The key is to decide how many hours you can train a week. The split that time between the disciplines. 50% for the bike 30% for the run and 20% for the swim. So if you can train 10 hours a week then 5 hours on the bike 3 hours running and 2 hours in the pool. This'll be a peak about a month before your A race. Work up to your max training time (it doesn't have to be 10 hours it depends on your goals for your A event)

    HOpe this helps
