Can I just point out as a corrollary (sp?) to Bops reply, what time you swim & what was the previous usage will impact on chloramines. First thing in a pool that has been running/filtering all night should be pretty good & clear, early afternoon post school lessons..not so good for all the reasons outlined, so timing can be a consideration as to which pool to use when.

Update-Have now stopped using local DL centre pool as having had some of their pool test data discovered pool way too hot at 30 degrees c.Should be more like 27-28 for aerobic training sessions-see-
    http://www.pwtag.org/
This website is v useful-seems to provide industry standards/ guidelines for pools.
Symptoms have pretty much disappeared using larger and cooler pools but some residual upper respiratory symptoms and still using nose clip.
Now joined local tri club session in pool that is 27-28 degrees and all going well.
My advice-avoid small, shallow, hot leisure centre pools for tri training.

Just out of interest did you ask your pool to reduce the temp ?

And ask what cleanin solution they use ?

If so what did they say ?
