Saturday: Finally got to set up the Turbo: 15 mins on that. Fun + but hot and sweaty. HR at 150bpm, but power only 250 watts. Feeling lazy (probably still worn out) - meant to do 30 mins. Gym: Row (was going to do 10K, but too lazy/tired and the knee was to sore. Stopped after 3K). Weights. Cross trainer thing. Core. Stretching.
Sunday: Up with lark. Feel a lot better: 1 hour learning to swim. A bit over 2 hours on the bike - had a great time.. but a bit slower than I would have liked. Only managed about 50Km. But first "proper" ride out on the bike. Ache all over. New saddle etc.
Two hours of tennis.
Really need a plan for the next two weeks. I'm based locally, and have some holiday. So really need to get as much quality on the bike as possible. First duathlon on the 19th. Which is only a fortnight away.
@ Teamspirit - For great advice on training each day/week I would read this thread from the start. You will find what most of us are doing. You just need to make sure you dont over do it straight away. listen to your body when training. Good luck!
For me today I managed a 8 K run in 29.10. I am really please as this is only 11 seconds off my PB. I was wearing my new trainers (first time out in them). I am now the prode owner of some Adidas Supernova sequence. The are great. I was fitted and assessed at easy runner in Bristol. Anyine looking for new shoes and need recommendations then I reckon you should go to Easy Runner in Bristol. I was filmed on the treadmill which was interesting to see your running gait. I have a really odd part to my leg recovery so after the film we sorted out the right shoes.
well i've had a strange week training wise. monday, tuesday rest days (as i was ill) wednesday swim 1k, thursday swim 1k, friday 5k run, saturday, 500m swim 5k run, sunday 30 mile bike ride (well 15 miles each way to visit family). hope to be able to do a bit better this week as i hope not to be ill.[;)]
@Teamspirit, i agree with BlinkyBaz, there is some great ideas to be had on here, but definately don't do too much too soon, that is the easiest way to injuries.
Did the Kingston Breakfast run 8miler yesterday. Missed the 8mile starting wave as stuck in traffic... Doh! So started half an hour late.
Managed 1 hour 12mins which I was happy with as was aiming for 9min miles so was bang on. Reckon I could have pushed harder as felt great over the finish line. Don't want to mess up my season though before its even started!
Incidentally, had my new compression socks on. Man they have made a huge difference! Two weeks ago did a 10k and my calves ached for days. Got out of bed this morning anticipating a few winces, but no pain at all. Magic socks!
C'mon newbies, no training for a week? I'll kick this off again...
Friday.... errrr nothing. Saturday 5k which was rubbish as I was very hungover. Sunday, 4hrs driving home from North Wales (does that count?). Monday... looking for wallpaper with the misses (pretty sure that doesn't count though it was exhausting), today 1300m swim session, including my first non-stop 750m time trial. Woohoo!
Despite all my good intentions for my day of annual leave today, I've been forced to spend it on the toilet.
Damn gastric flu/thing I've eaten/whatever has caused this.
Worst of all I was supposed to be starting swimming lessons tonight which I've been SO looking forward to, but that ain't gonna happen, I could create such a disaster in the pool I'd end up in a 220 forum caption competition ;-)

Hmmmm... okay I think? 750m in 16min 15 secs. Certainly won't be breaking any records this year. To be honest I want to get under 15mins, but I felt pretty good after, not too tired so can't really complain.
Looking at last years sprint times for the events I've entered, I'm firmly in the second half of the field but this years all about the learning/experience right? Oh god.
Developed a chesty cough overnight. AAAGH! Just over 4 weeks to go till Eton, I don't need this now!
wore pedometer whilst crewing daughter and horse at their 75 miler (120km) - they did it at 20kph - I did 20,000 steps so that's going down as excercise
have now done so much swimmng in last 8 weeks that my swimsuit is dissolving due to the chlorine - parts are almost see through of course I'd managed not to notice this prior to actually putting on and trapsing through to the pool
Fri - First swim in +10 yrs. Managed about 260m all in, of breaststroke
Sat - Went to see Bloc Party, very good
Sun - 10k bike and another swim. Manged 40m of front crawl at the end
Tue - Swim sessison and managed 120m of front crawl. Though breathing and stroke went completely to pot on the last length.
Probably a 10k run tonight. I'm comfortable now with doing training of some sort most days so time to do a proper schedule with some targets....maybe even a spreadsheet as inspired by flavadave.
last Wed - 2 mile road run; approx 1.5k swim (forgot my goggles - big mistake, was nearly blind afterwards!)
Thurs - 2 hours digging dandelions out of the garden (it's gotta count for something!); 2 mile run on treadmill; 2k swim
Fri - rest
Sat - Warwick aquathlon - 400m swim and 2 mile run
Sun - recovery from celebratory hangover
Mon - 2.5 mile road run
Tue - 3 mile off road run; 1 hour Masters swimming session, about 2.5k
Wed - back to work [:'(] 45 mins swim, approx 1.75k
Looking back, I've had a pretty good week (for me!) And I'm hopefully sorting out a loan of a road bike this weekend, so I'll REALLY be able to get a training plan sorted...
i know how you feel. i am in lewisham and just hate taking my road bike out. roads are a nightmare and traffic lights every 100m. getting in the car and out into the countryside has to be the way forward.

Hi Guys
I feel really sorry for you guys that live in the smoke. I think I have been blessed with my location. I live in a sleepy East Yorkshire village at the foot of the Wolds which is a mecca for cycling, mountian biking and fell running. I also have a school sports centre a stones throw from house which has a 33m pool and a great gym.
They are even hosting sprint triathlons & duathlons this year, 1st sprint was 6th April, last is in october. hoping to compete in every one of them. (exept the duathlon on the 19th april as I have something on)
The cycle route went right past my house on the first sprint so had great support from the other half and friends as I bombed past !
As for training this week, Monday 7.5 mile (beach run as I was away for the weekend)
Tuesday rest
Wednesday 8 mile fell run with hill reps
Tonight 1 hour swim (30 mins drills / 30 mins continuous)
Friday 40km cycle (loads of hills)
Saturday AM 1 hour swim 100m sets with 20 seconds recovery / drills
Sunday on the bike again for a couple of hours maybe throw in a brick session for good measure
Incidentally, had my new compression socks on. Man they have made a huge difference! Two weeks ago did a 10k and my calves ached for days. Got out of bed this morning anticipating a few winces, but no pain at all. Magic socks!

Wow ! I need some of those, my calves are aching like F*** today after all them hill reps - So you rate them ?
I do suffer a bit with my calves with tightness / aching but never thought of using them until now, I think a trip to my local running shop is in order.
oh my dear god I ache, I did my first ever set of everything. I swam for 30 minutes and covered 800m, then i did 20 mins on the spin bike, and then ran 1k in 4:30, then 20mins on the bike and 1k in 4:15. Despite feeling like i was going to die, and like i was going to burst into tears, i feel great for having done it.
Tuesday - spinning class then 10 mile cycle into work
Wednesday - 5k run then swim 20 mins (short time as had to go to work)
Thursday - Swim 1 hour 15 mins. Horse ride in the evening!
Friday - Swim 30 mins then 4.5 mile run rolling terrain into work. Only 2nd time doing it but knocked 9 mins of my (cautious) first time so well pleased. Will probably run home again tonight as its more downhill on the way back.
Off out on the lash tonight.
Day off training tomorrow (but at work unfortunately)
Sunday LSD on bike or possibly 10 k run, probably not both...... but maybe!
Definitely give the compression socks a go jemawah. I've got the x-socks energiser which I'll run in for shorter runs. If I go on a long run I wear my 1000 mile socks after (they're alot tighter). Wish I'd found them earlier.
And training this week? Well since my swim on Tuesday I've done nothing as I'm ill. BOOOOO!
